            About Us

            SCT Management Services, L3C ("SCTMS")

            SCTMS is organized as a Low Profit Limited Liability company, an L3C, under Louisiana Law. It is accountable to the Smoking Cessation Trust, the sole member of the L3C, and SCTMS’s CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors of the Trust.

            Broadly speaking, SCTMS has a three-fold objective:

            1. To locate and certify Louisiana residents who are part of the Scott Class ("Class Members");
            2. To identify, direct, coordinate, and integrate the delivery of the four smoking cessation services primarily through the existing clinical health care delivery system; and
            3. To provide Class Members with every opportunity to avail themselves of any and all of the smoking cessation services throughout the 10-year duration of the Trust, removing barriers and disincentives that would hinder success.

            SCTMS will focus on making significant positive contributions to encourage and expand clinician participation in smoking cessation counseling, encouraging clinicians to consistently counsel every patient who smokes, regardless of whether the patient is ready to quit at this time, and to identify and refer potential Class Members to SCTMS. SCTMS will attempt to create an infrastructure that will encourage coordination of the clinical delivery of healthcare and counseling during clinical encounters, with the other cessation services (Quit-line)/products (medications and NRT) to present a clear pathway for Class Members to follow in their quest to stop smoking.

            SCTMS is committed to accomplishing these objectives while being the good steward of the Trust’s funds. In this regard, SCTMS will negotiate vendor contracts, network agreements, quit-line(s), pharmacy, and other services at managed care rates and will endeavor to remove all barriers, whether in the form of benefit filings, coinsurance & deductibles, copayments, behavioral, or others that might discourage Class Member participation.
